That is according to the Commander of Ukraine’s Ground Forces who also is Commander of the Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Grouping, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry media center reports on Monday, March 27.

"The most intense phase of the battles for Bakhmut continues. The situation is consistently difficult. The enemy suffers significant losses in human resources, weapons and military equipment, but continues to conduct offensive actions. Our defenders heroically restrained the enemy's onslaught in extremely difficult conditions and left no chance for the enemy to realize their plans," Syrskyi said after his next visite to the Bakhmut front line.
A mutilated city, devastation, heavy battles, the ground littered with the bodies of the enemy - this is the present day of the city of Bakhmut.
In Bakhmut city, the Commander of Ukraine’s Ground Forces learned the front-line situation and made some operational decisions to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities, according to the report.
Praising Ukrainian forces’ resilience in “extremely difficult conditions”, he said: "The defence of Bakhmut is due to military necessity … We are calculating all possible options for the development of events, and will react adequately to the current situation".
