The video, recorded in Ukraine’s southern operational zone, features air defense crews highlighting the Raven’s combat performance against a range of russian aerial threats. The system employs AIM-132 ASRAAM missiles, which are capable of intercepting drones, cruise missiles, and potentially even fast-moving aircraft and helicopters.
Each Raven combat team comprises three members: a commander, a driver, and a gunner-operator. Troops highlighted the system’s exceptional mobility and operational flexibility, thanks to the ability to swiftly rotate roles among crew members, making it highly suited for Ukraine’s fluid and fast-paced battlefield environment.
On June 25, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the delivery of 350 AIM-132 ASRAAM missiles to Ukraine as part of an air defense support package, funded through interest accrued on frozen russian assets.
Manufactured in the UK, Raven systems are delivered alongside the missiles. According to The Guardian, an additional five Raven launchers are expected to arrive soon, raising the total number of systems in Ukrainian service to 13.
