Ukrainian forces carried out overnight strikes on russian military targets in temporarily occupied Crimea, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson regions, and russia's Belgorod region

Ukrainian forces carried out a series of strikes against russian military targets overnight between March 5 and March 6, hitting several key facilities across temporarily occupied territories and inside russia. The operation targeted missile units, troop concentrations, and ammunition storage sites used by russian forces.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian units struck an area where elements of the 12th Brigade were reportedly concentrated. The brigade operates the Iskander operational‑tactical missile system, one of russia's primary short-range ballistic missile platforms.

The strike targeted a location near Kurortne in temporarily occupied Crimea, where russian missile forces were believed to be deployed. Hitting such units is considered strategically significant, as Iskander systems are regularly used to launch strikes against Ukrainian military and civilian infrastructure.

In a separate strike, Ukrainian forces targeted the Vostochny training ground near Novopetrivka in the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region. Training areas and staging grounds are often used by russian forces to regroup, prepare equipment, and train personnel before deploying to the front line.

Another reported strike hit a concentration of russian personnel near Kolotilovka in russia's Belgorod region. Such attacks on troop assembly areas are aimed at disrupting the buildup of forces and complicating logistical preparations for combat operations.

Ukrainian forces also struck an ammunition storage facility near Novooleksiivka in the temporarily occupied part of Kherson region. Ammunition depots remain a high-value target, as their destruction can significantly limit the ability of russian units to sustain artillery and missile operations.

As Defense Express previously reported, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces and naval units have conducted a coordinated strike against russian positions in the Black Sea, targeting infrastructure used by russian forces on an offshore platform. The operation took place overnight on March 5, 2026, and focused on assets located at the Holitsynske gas field.
