Ukrainian airborne forces have reported the destruction of a rare and high-value russian artillery system on the Novopavlivka axis. Operators from the 25th Brigade identified and engaged the 2A36 Giatsint-B towed 152 mm gun, a long-range asset used by russian forces to deliver deep fire support.
According to the brigade's official communication, the target was detected by the Combat Hawks drone unit.

2A36 Giatsint-B gun is considered a relatively rare system, particularly compared to more commonly deployed Soviet-era artillery pieces. Its extended firing range, up to 40 kilometers with rocket-assisted projectiles, makes it a valuable tool for russian forces seeking to strike Ukrainian positions from safer distances beyond the reach of many counter-battery systems.
In terms of range, Giatsint-B unit is second only to 2S7 Pion 203 mm self-propelled gun, which can fire up to 47.5 kilometers. This places the destroyed system among the longest-reaching conventional artillery assets available to russian ground forces, underscoring the operational significance of its loss.
Designed to suppress and destroy manpower, firepower, and armored vehicles, Giatsint-B system is typically employed against troop concentrations, logistical nodes, and fortified defensive positions. Its role in shaping the battlefield through long-range fires makes it a priority target for Ukrainian forces aiming to degrade russia's offensive and defensive capabilities.
As Defense Express previously reported, in the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian forces sequentially destroyed russian Palantin system, S-300V elements, and a drone control center.
