The 14th Brigade released footage showing Ukrainian UAV crews tracking and destroying concealed russian waiting drones on the battlefield

Operators of Ukraine's 14th Brigade have released new footage showing how their drone crews detect and destroy russian waiting drones, highlighting another evolving aspect of modern drone warfare on the battlefield.

According to the brigade, russian forces increasingly deploy so-called waiting drones, unmanned aerial vehicles hidden along expected vehicle routes or near Ukrainian positions and left in standby mode until a target appears. Once activated, such drones can quickly strike military vehicles, supply convoys, or troop positions.

The released video shows Ukrainian drone operators carefully searching for concealed russian UAVs before destroying them. In many cases, these hidden drones are camouflaged or positioned in vegetation, making them difficult to detect from the ground. As a result, aerial reconnaissance drones are now being used not only against troops and equipment, but also to hunt other drones.

The phenomenon reflects how rapidly the war in Ukraine continues to reshape battlefield tactics. Drone warfare has evolved far beyond simple reconnaissance or one-way attack missions. Both sides are now building layered drone ecosystems involving reconnaissance UAVs, strike drones, relay drones, electronic warfare platforms, and counter-drone hunters.

The brigade itself described the situation ironically as a "war of robots", a scenario that many military observers considered unrealistic at the beginning of russia's full-scale invasion. Yet on today's battlefield, unmanned systems increasingly operate against one another with limited direct human contact during the engagement itself.
