The Armed Forces of Ukraine have begun receiving Ukrainian DG-01 smoke grenades as part of a gradual transition from Soviet-era weapons to domestic ones. This explosive weapon is developed in accordance with the modern requirements of NATO countries.
The DG-01 grenade has been put into service by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2021. The grenades are being supplied in two variants: with black or white smoke.

The grenade weighs 650 grams. It takes 3 seconds to start smoke emission, resulting in creation of a smoke curtain up to 30 meters long, which lasts for 120 seconds.
The military notes that the grenade has a number of advantages compared to the Soviet-era one. It is lighter, more compact, and protected from mechanical damage and moisture.
