The Alpha Special Operations Center reports systematic strikes on russian air defenses, opening corridors for long-range drone attacks

Units of the Alpha Special Operations Center carried out a sustained campaign against russia's layered air defense system throughout 2025, inflicting losses estimated at roughly $4 billion.

According to the agency, Ukrainian forces conducted long-range operations aimed at systematically degrading key components of russia's integrated air defense network, targeting both interceptor systems and the radar assets that enable their effective operation.

Confirmed losses include the destruction or disabling of multiple generations of russian surface-to-air missile systems, among them S-300, S-350, and S-400 units, as well as Buk-M1 and Buk-M2 systems. Short-range air defense assets such as Pantsir-S1, Pantsir-S2, and Tor-M1, Tor-M2, and Tor-M3 were also reportedly hit.

In addition to missile systems, the campaign focused heavily on radar and sensor infrastructure, which forms the backbone of any modern air defense network. Ukrainian strikes reportedly affected a wide range of russian radar systems responsible for detection, tracking, and target designation.

Among the identified targets were long-range radar systems such as 55Zh6U Nebo-U and Nebo-M, as well as Podlet, Niobiy, Kasta-2E2, Gamma-D, and Protivnik-GE radars. Radar components integrated into Buk, S-300, and S-400 systems, including 92N6 engagement radar, were also listed among the damaged assets.

The loss of these radar systems significantly reduces the effectiveness of russian air defenses, as even intact missile launchers cannot operate efficiently without reliable situational awareness and targeting data.

The Security Service emphasized that the cumulative effect of these operations was the creation of gaps and corridors within russia's multi-layered air defense coverage. These breaches, Ukrainian officials say, have enabled safer penetration routes for long-range Ukrainian strike drones deep into russian-controlled territory.

As a result, Ukrainian unmanned systems have been able to reach military bases, ammunition depots, airfields, and other high-value targets in the rear, underscoring how the systematic suppression of air defenses has become a key enabler of Ukraine's long-range strike campaign.
