Richard ran to the checkpoint unarmed and asked for help, which indicated his desire to avoid the War and violence. He spoke about his life in Uganda and the circumstances that led to his conscription into the russian army.
Richard lived in Uganda with his wife and two daughters in a small two-room house. His income was only $50 a month, as he worked as a cleaner in a supermarket in Kampala.

Escaping poverty, he was deceived by russian propaganda promises, took out a huge bank loan for air tickets to russia, but there, instead of working in a supermarket, he was faced with a choice – to sign a contract or die from a gunshot to the head.
A video of a conversation with the prisoner of war was released on the channel of the 63rd Mechanized Brigade.
This case illustrates how people who find themselves in difficult life circumstances can become victims of war and violence, even if their initial intention was completely different.
Richard is not the only one who found himself in such a situation/ Earliar in the Kupyask direction, the 127th Heavy Mechanized Brigade also captured a Cuban citizen, Joandi Depalaza, with the call sign Nicto (Nobody in russia).
