Norwegian government has allocated a new military aid package for the Armed Forces of Ukraine worth 1.3 billion Norwegian kroner, or USD 118 million. The package was announced during Minister of Defense Bjørn Arild Gram's visit to the port city of Odesa on October 29–30. The contents of this provision include inflatable boats, weapons and spare parts for F-16 fighter aircraft maintenance. The types of aircraft-carried weapons is the package are not disclosed.
"That Ukraine has quickly become capable of receiving and operating F-16s is impressive, yet the work isn’t finished, even though the first planes are now in place. A functional air defense requires not only aircraft but also weapons and regular maintenance. Funding is needed for the operation and upkeep of the donated planes," Gram said, reminding that Norway will also donate six F-16s of its own as per prior agreements with Kyiv.

As a co-founder of the Maritime Capability Coalition alongside the UK, Norway also keeps supporting Ukraine in the naval domain by donating 130 inflatable boats. These are sourced both from Norwegian Armed Forces and the civilian market. Boats come with associated equipment, including personal gear for the soldiers. The minister noted that some of the equipment will be used to help train boat operators for missions on the river. He specified that the "initial deliveries" have already been made.
Defense Express reminds that Norway also participates in a number of other initiatives, such as contributing to Ukraine's future F-16 pilot training in Denmark, Air Defense Coalition, procurement of artillery ammunition and drones via the British IFU fund, and more. A few weeks ago, Oslo created the position of defense attaché to promote cooperation between arms manufacturers from both countries, while Kyiv had invited Norway to train a battalion of Ukrainian soldiers under the Northern Brigade project.
