Ukraine has invited Nordic countries to participate in the Northern Brigade project, which aims to train and equip one battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

"During his recent visit to Norway, Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister for European Integration Oleksandr Balanutsa invited the Nordic countries to join the Northern Brigade initiative. This project offers each Nordic country the opportunity to train and arm one Ukrainian battalion," the statement notes.

"By joining the 'Northern Brigade' project, defense companies and countries in Northern Europe will have the opportunity to demonstrate the effectiveness of their defense industry products in real combat situations. Let us unite our efforts for a common victory," Balanutsa stated.

The Ukrainian delegation also engaged with representatives from various defense industry companies, including NAMMO, Fjord Defence, FLIR UAS, Kongsberg, Equipnor, Norlense, and Rheinmetall.

Additionally, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry delegation conveyed to representatives of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense the urgent need for increased assistance from partner nations. The discussions particularly focused on Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration and the necessity to bolster support for Ukraine under the Nansen program.

"Norway remains committed to supporting Ukraine. The intention of the Norwegian government to expand the Nansen Support Program until 2030 and allocate an additional 5 billion Norwegian kroner this year for Ukraine demonstrates this. Despite the complexity of the situation on the battlefield, we believe in Ukraine's victory," assured Ann Marie Aanerud.
