iran continues to supply the russian federation with weapons to wage war on Ukraine

About two months ago, iran covertly supplied numerous ammunition of various types to the russian federation, a security source told Sky News. According to the information, Tehran sent to Moscow millions of small arms ammunition and hundreds of thousands shells for artillery and mortar systems.

As far as the source knows, two cargo ships loaded with weapons departed under the russian flag from iranian port into the Caspian Sea toward russia. The transfer of arms was done by russian ships called the Musa Jalil and the Begey. The first one departed on January 10, approximately, the other went into the sea on January 12.

Sky News confirmed there was movement of the ships around that time but say both left the iranian port of Amirabad on January 10, and for some reason had to make a stop off the coast of Turkmenistan. Then, the two vessels reached russian port in Astrakhan on January 27 to leave it on February 3.

Which ammunition russia got from iran

Sources told Sky News that the assessed shipment contained about 100 million of small arms and machine gun ammo of various calibers: 5.56mm, 7.62mm, 9mm, 14.5mm.

Also iran sent 300,000 shells, such as 40mm grenades for grenade launchers, 107mm anti-tank rockets, mortar shells (60mm, 81mm and 120mm), unguided artillery rockets and shells (130mm, 122mm and 152mm) and tank shells and projectiles (115mm and 125mm).

Among non-lethal supplies, iran sent 10,000 helmets and flak jackets. The entire shipment of weapons and equipment was fit inside 200 containers. It is known that russia paid for the supplies with cash.
