The 225th Assault Regiment recently confirmed the destruction of a heavily modified russian T-55 tank in the Huliaipole direction. The engagement was documented via drone footage shared on the unit's official channels.
The primary target was the T-55, a tank model originally introduced in the mid-20th century. Russian forces had equipped the vehicle with massive amounts of auxiliary plating and cage armor, earning it the nickname Frankenstein from Ukrainian fighters. This makeshift shielding is a response to the high lethality of anti-tank guided missiles and loitering munitions, though it significantly degrades the tank's mobility and situational awareness.

According to the 225th Regiment, the operation was the result of a coordinated multi-stage effort. Ukrainian reconnaissance units first tracked the movement patterns of the russian armor to identify a centralized "accumulation point". By monitoring these logistics routes, the military was able to locate the specific facility where the modified tanks were being staged and maintained.
The breakthrough in the operation was facilitated by a HIMARS strike. The high-precision rocket system was used to "remove the roof" of the russian storage site, effectively stripping away the structural protection of the building. This initial blow left the equipment vulnerable and accessible to smaller, more agile strike platforms.
With the targets exposed, the regiment deployed FPV drones to deliver the final strikes. The FPV pilots were able to navigate the drones into the gaps of the improvised armor, detonating the vehicles from within.
