The russian Defense Ministry decided not to hide its essence, and directly acknowledged the similarity to the Third Reich. In particular, the russia’s troops involved in the war were united into the "Center" and "South" operational groups, just as in Hitler's "Barbarossa" plan.
As it turned out, the group "South" is commanded by Army General Sergei Surovikin, who also holds the post of Commander of the "Air Force of the russian federation".

The russian army general Surovikin as a paradoxical figure, since he is the first in the history of the Russian Armed Forces "ground" commander of the Air Force, who has no experience of conducting "classic" air operations.
From March to December 2017, Surovikin was the Commander of the russian group in Syria, and his biggest achievement in this position is withdrawing from the encirclement of 29 servicemen of the military police of the russian army.
But in the biography of russian Commander Surovikin there is another striking fact that most comprehensively reveals this character. It turns out that in August 1991, then Captain Surovikin’s unit killed three civilians during a coup d'etat in Moscow.
If more specifically, then Surovikin was acting Commander of the 1st Motorized Rifle Battalion of the Taman Motorized Rifle Division. This motorized battalion killed three civilians on so-called "Garden Ring" of Moscow, the command to open fire was given by Surovikin himself.
It is logical that together with other direct participants in the coup d'etat Surovikin was convicted under the laws of the russian federation. But in less than a year, Surovikin was released under Yeltsin's direct protection and immediately received the rank of major. Saying: "he just carried out the order".
The further career of this character was "boosted" by 1993, when the Kremlin needed soldiers who did not have the moral brakes to open fire on civilians. Another colorful fact: being a general, after 2008 in during the "Serdyukov reform" Surovikin was engaged in the creation of an institute of military police in the structure of the Armed Forces of the russian federation.
Such a biographical information reveals the following principle: the Kremlin brings to the generals only those people who know how to demonstrate political loyalty and do not have the moral "brakes" to shoot at civilians.
