Ukrainian arms manufacturers have significantly upgraded the combat capabilities of the M113 armored personnel carrier, a key asset supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine through international aid. The innovation comes in the form of the Tavria 14.5/7.62 remotely operated weapon module now installed on the vehicle.
The Main Department of Support for the Lifecycle of Weapons and Military Equipment announced the development, highlighting the module’s dual-machine gun system. It combines powerful 14.5 mm gun with the 7.62 mm machine gun, enabling operators to engage targets from the safety of the vehicle’s interior.

“The gunner can now fire while observing the battlefield through a monitor,” Dmytro Klimenkov, Deputy Minister of Defense, explained.
This enhancement replaces the M113’s original 12.7 mm machine gun, which required the gunner to operate from an exposed position on the vehicle’s armor, offering minimal protection. With the Tavria module, the APC now boasts improved firepower and greater safety for its crew, enhancing its operational effectiveness in combat scenarios.
