The launcher was taken from a downed russian rotorcraft, now serves as an improvised artillery

Engineers from the 28th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine created another piece of handcrafted rocket artillery – the "Hroza" (Thunder) rocket launcher. Essentially, they took a B-8V20A rocket pod from a downed russian helicopter and installed it on an adjustable mount for precise fire control.

It is known that the pod itself weighs about 120 kg (unloaded) and can carry up to 20 S-8 unguided rockets of 80mm caliber. In "ordinary" conditions the rocket can be equipped with various warheads including HEAT-Frag, anti-runway, thermobaric, illumination and others. It is capable of hitting a target 4.5 km away when launched from the air, according to WeaponSystems.

However, the creators did not specify the characteristics of their invention, because it will be used as a ground-based launcher instead, and probably transported on some sort of a pickup, as we have seen similar custom-made launchers before.

Press service of the brigade also notes that the people behind the creation of the "Thunder" are in fact not certified technical specialists:

Among the ones who made this thing, there are an electrician, an assembler, a driver, a loader... But it works, I dare to say, and it works well!" says engineer Denys. He adds that when some tool or a specialist is needed, he turns to acquaintances for help and gets it.

Denys said he and his comrades would like to create even more such weapons if only he had more time, since his unit has to go to the very frontline every day for evacuation or repair works, sometimes they have to do their job right on the spot during hostilities.
