The Washington Post has published a new publication about the current situation of Ukraine in a full-scale war against the aggressor country russia.
At the same time, the publication itself was illustrated with a photo of a Yugoslav-made BOV wheeled armored vehicle, which is equipped with anti-drone protection and is used in battles against russian troops in Eastern Ukraine.

From Defense Express we emphasize that we do not undertake to discuss the entire article by The Washington Post, but we want to draw attention specifically to the photo with the Yugoslav BOV armored vehicle in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This "instead of a thousand words" can clearly show the complexity of the defenders' situation in their attempts to repel the aggressor's offensive in Eastern Ukraine.
It is also worth clarifying that the above photo is the first public recording of the presence of Yugoslav wheeled armored vehicles BOV in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Until now, there have only been mentions in the media that in the spring of 2024, Slovenia transferred 26 wheeled armored vehicles of this type to Ukraine.
It should be noted that these wheeled armored combat vehicles of Yugoslav production were received by the Ukrainian military against the backdrop of a delay in military assistance from the United States, which lasted from the fall of 2023 to the end of April 2024. At present, these Yugoslav BOV armored vehicles can be called a specific symbol of how insufficient the volume of supplies of heavy military equipment and weapons to Ukraine by partners is now.
At the moment, BOV wheeled armored vehicles are not produced, and even in the Balkan countries this equipment is already rare. In particular, by the beginning of 2024, Slovenia no longer had these combat armored vehicles in service; the Croatian army had only six vehicles of this type at its disposal; the army of Bosnia and Herzegovina had 32 vehicles at its disposal; the army of Serbia - 70 vehicles.
Characteristics of BOV wheeled armored vehicles:
• combat weight - 9.1 tons;
• crew - 2 people, possible placement of up to 8 people;
• speed - up to 95 km/h on the highway.
