The UMPB D-30SN is a ready-to-use 250-kg aerial guided munition (KAB) that russia has been employing in strikes against Ukrainian cities

As early as March 2024, russian forces began episodically using the new long-range glide munition UMPB D-30SN in terror strikes on populated areas in Ukraine. One of the first documented uses of this glide bomb was recorded on 10 March 2024 near Myrnohrad, and since then targets have consistently been urban areas.

Ukraine's Defense Intelligence has published a breakdown of the munition’s components and confirmed key performance parameters. In particular, its operational range is reported as up to 100 km when released from high altitude (drop height cited as 12–15 km). (In May 2024, based on video evidence, Defense Express estimated the D-30SN’s range at 90+ km.)

Unlike the modular UMPK kit, which is fitted to a conventional free-fall bomb, the UMPB D-30SN is a factory-built aerial munition that is externally identical in size and mass to an FAB-250 bomb (250-kg class).

The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine specialists note that the UMPB's internal modules and electronics are similar to those used in UMPK kits. In particular, the autopilot module is identified as S.M.A.R.T. For navigation the munition uses a CRPA antenna system — the Kometa-M 8-element array.

As with many russian systems, a large share of the electronic components are commercially available civilian microelectronics sourced from the global market.

One of the more complex subsystems in the guided bomb is the servo actuator for the control surfaces. The identified servo is the CP500-130-01-M produced by KST Digital Technology Limited, a supplier that also provides servos for Shahed-type drones and reportedly customizes its products to customer requirements.

The developer and manufacturer of the UMPB D-30SN is JSC Concern Granit-Electron, registered in Saint Petersburg. The company is part of the Tactical Missile Armament Corporation (KTRV).

Notably, aviation strike munitions are not Granit-Electron's core specialty: the company's primary expertise lies in naval radar systems and shipboard missile fire-control equipment.
