At the same time, by turning to the use of obsolete ones, russians won't be able to make good use of them

About a third of all modern russian tanks are now destroyed in Ukraine, said Viktor Andrusiv, the Adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Answering a journalist's question on Channel 24 TV, he said even if russian army decides to take the old tanks like the T-62s or even T-34s from the reserve stocks, those vehicles might not be capable of performing set tasks.

"I hope there will be some point before the T-34 when they [the russians] realize that it doesn't make any sense," he said about the russian tendency to take obsolete machinery out of stocks. The adviser is doubtful, whether a 60-year-old tank is able to "drive far", because of the quality of the engine and other components after such a period of remaining idle. Not to mention the combat capabilities and characteristics of obsolete weapons.

"Before the war with Ukraine, Russia had about 3,000 modern tanks in its arsenal, and now more than 30% we have already destroyed in three months of the war. Well, in six months we will crush even more, then," said the adviser to the Interior Minister. He said the current actions of russian army trying to reinforce units with old tanks "looks like an agony" and indicates that the russian armor reserves are running out.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that as of May 29 russian army has lost 1,338 tanks, over the past few weeks this number grew by roughly 8 units daily. And those are only confirmed figures and don't include damaged ones.

Defense Express earlier reported that, according to the Ukrainian General Staff, russian invasion forces are trying to make up for the equipment losses. For that purpose, they reinforce their battle groups with obsolete weapons and military equipment, in particular, T-62 tanks and BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles.
