Front-strike units of Ukraine's Special Operations Forces used drones to hit russian fuel infrastructure in Makiivka and destroy the Volna-3 electronic warfare station in Donetsk

Ukraine's Special Operations Forces have conducted a series of precision strikes against russian military infrastructure in the temporarily occupied cities of Makiivka and Donetsk in Donetsk region. Footage of the operation was released on March 10 through official SOF channels, showing multiple successful drone attacks against enemy logistical and electronic warfare assets.

According to the report, Front-strike units of the SOF targeted several facilities in Makiivka that are linked to russian logistical support. Among the struck targets were a fuel storage site as well as a distribution and supply point for fuel, both critical for sustaining russian military operations in the area.

Fuel depots and supply nodes play a crucial role in supporting mechanized forces, armored vehicles, and transport units. By disrupting these logistical hubs, Ukrainian forces can complicate the ability of russian units to maintain mobility and sustain combat operations along the front line.

In a separate strike in the nearby city of Donetsk, SOF drone operators targeted and successfully hit the Volna-3 electronic warfare station. The system is reportedly used by russian forces to interfere with drone communications by jamming control frequencies, forcing unmanned aerial vehicles to lose connection or deviate from their targets.

Neutralizing such electronic warfare systems can significantly improve the effectiveness of Ukrainian drone operations. EW platforms like the Volna-3 are designed specifically to counter UAV threats, meaning their destruction may temporarily reduce russian defensive capabilities against aerial reconnaissance and strike drones.

The operation was reportedly supported by members of the SOF Resistance Movement operating inside temporarily russian-occupied areas of Donetsk region. These local networks can assist in identifying targets, providing intelligence, and helping coordinate strikes against high-value enemy infrastructure.

As Defense Express previously reported, pilots of the Darknode Anti-Shahed Battalion, part of Ukraine's Nemesis 412th Unmanned Systems Brigade, have intercepted and destroyed a new type of russian aerial threat during a nighttime operation. The unit reported the engagement on March 10, highlighting an emerging modification of Shahed-type drone used by russian forces.
