Ukrainian drone operators from the Apachi Battalion destroyed russian T-72 tank in a coordinated strike near Yampil, showcasing the growing dominance of FPV systems over heavy armor

Ukrainian forces have destroyed another russian T-72 main battle tank near the settlement of Yampil, underscoring the growing effectiveness of coordinated drone warfare on the battlefield. The operation was carried out through the joint efforts of multiple units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, demonstrating a high level of tactical synchronization.

According to the Apachi Battalion of the 81st Brigade, FPV drone operators played a decisive role in the strike. Their actions were not improvised but carefully calculated, reflecting both technical skill and disciplined coordination between reconnaissance and strike elements.

Video footage released by the unit shows the engagement unfolding in stages. The first drone strike successfully immobilized the armored vehicle, halting its movement and leaving it exposed. This initial hit was critical, as disabling mobility significantly reduces a tank's survivability and limits the crew's ability to maneuver or retreat.

Subsequent strikes followed with precision. A series of targeted impacts further damaged the vehicle, ensuring it could not be recovered or repaired. The final blow reportedly involved an FPV drone equipped with an incendiary payload, which ignited the tank. Flames quickly engulfed the vehicle, ultimately reducing it to a smoldering mass of twisted metal.

As Defense Express previously reported, Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces have carried out a series of coordinated strikes against russian military infrastructure in temporarily occupied territories, targeting assets critical to the enemy’s logistics, energy supply, aviation, and communications.

The operations were conducted using so-called "middle strike" capabilities, underscoring the expanding reach of Ukrainian drone-based warfare.
