In particular, the Saratov oil refinery, which accounts for about 2.5% of russia's total oil refining capacity (over 7 million tons per year), was hit. Explosions and a massive fire have been reported at the site.
The Novokuybyshev refinery in the Samara region was also hit. Preliminary reports indicate explosions and fires at the refinery. Its design capacity is over 8.8 million tons of oil per year. It is Rosneft's largest refinery in the region and the main producer of aviation fuel for Su-27 and Tu-22M3 aircraft.
Additionally, the Samara linear production dispatch station, which blends various oil grades into the Urals export oil brand, was attacked. This brand represents up to 50% of russia's total oil exports.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized that all the targets were involved in supplying the russian Armed Forces with fuel and lubricants. The Defense Forces of Ukraine are systematically weakening the aggressor's military and economic potential by targeting its energy infrastructure.
