Ukrainian long-range drones continue to strike deep into russian territory

On the night of January 26, a refinery in Ryazan was hit once again—just days after a previous attack by only 12 Ukrainian drones, further exposing weaknesses in russian air defenses.

Reuters recently published an article on these long-range strikes, featuring an interview with the commander of the 1st Battalion of the 14th Separate Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, callsign Casper.

According to Casper, the unit's main objective is to target enemy logistics hubs and ammunition depots far behind the front lines. His battalion reportedly consists of several hundred personnel, including analysts and engineers.

The article also features a former regiment commander, callsign Fidel, who revealed that Ukraine possesses drones capable of reaching up to 2,000 km to strike targets inside russia. The report references past attacks, including the strike on the russian Engels Airbase, and highlights the use of the Ukrainian-made An-196 Liutyi drone.

"The overall effectiveness of our weapons stands at 40–50%," Fidel told Reuters. However, he did not specify whether this figure applies solely to the Liutyi drone or to all operations. Either way, this is a remarkably positive result, considering the challenges posed by enemy air defense and other factors.
