Aleksinsky chemical plant that produces explosives and ammunition for the russian army is on fire after a Ukrainian long-range attack

Overnight November 9th Ukrainian long-range attack drones reached the Aleksinsky chemical plant in the town of Aleksin, Tula Region of russia. The facility caught fire with orange smoke rising from it, all personnel have been evacuated, Suspilne Media reports citing sources in the Security Service of Ukraine.

At least 13 explosive unmanned aerial vehicles reached the plant, aiming at the powder production units. Explosions caused by chemical materials were observed the following day after the drone hit. The operation was carried out by the Security Service in cooperation with the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine.

The russian defense ministry, in turn, reported 50 UAVs shot down during the night, including 28 in Bryansk, 12 in Kursk, two in Smolensk, and two in Tula regions of russia.

The Aleksinsky chemplant is part of the russian state defense conglomerate Rostec, it produces ammunition, powders, paints, and polymers supplying the russian armed forces. Unverified sources report that the plant suspended all operations after the drone attack. Also, one of the drones could have caused damage to the Aleksinskaya thermal power plant.
