Ukraine's air defense forces destroyed russian S8000 Banderol system in the skies over Odesa region during the night of September 2. The interception was reported by Ukraine's South Air Command.

The footage shows fighters from Ukraine's 208th Brigade destroying one of russian Banderol systems during the attack.

The S8000 Banderol is a small russian cruise missile equipped with a jet engine. According to Ukraine's Defence Intelligence, its maximum speed is 620-650 km/h, while its cruising speed ranges from 520 to 560 km/h.

The weapon has a reported flight range of up to 500 km. Its use has been recorded alongside strike UAVs of other types during russia's mass attacks against Ukraine.

During the night of September 2, russian forces launched 174 strike drones against Ukraine. The attack included S8000 Banderol systems among the other types of strike UAVs used by russian forces.

As Defense Express previously reported, Ukraine plans to introduce a new system distinguishing between drone and missile threats, with separate yellow and red warning levels.
