Out of 30 fruitless assaults, russian forces used only two tanks

Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of successful counterattacks in the Donetsk operational direction and forced russian invaders out of occupied positions. The Ukrainian military are now securing the new frontiers and reinforcing them for further defense.

The information comes from the press secretary of the Tavria operational direction defense forces Oleksii Dmytrashkivskyi. He didn't go into details of which areas were regained control of, though noted russians were attempting attacks near small cities Avdiivka, Mariinka and Karlivka but were suppressed with artillery fire, forcing the russians to retreat.

The military official also provided some stats saying over the past 24 hours russian forces had launched 30 assaults, 10 of them in the nighttime, that resulted in no success. What's notable, only one of those attempts was facilitated with two tanks, and this situation is very indicative.

It also shows the reason why russia deploys T-60 to the Donetsk region specifically, as we saw in mid-March.

At the same time, russians are accumulating armored vehicles near Verkhnotoretske, in a pinch enveloping Ukraine-controlled Avdiivka from the north.

That gives Ukrainian command reasons to expect the russians to increase the effort from that direction, spokesman Dmytrashkivskyi says. In addition, there was a growing activity of enemy aviation in that area. Besides Su-25, russians also use quite old Su-24 attack aircraft and Mi-28/Mi-8 helicopters instead of more advanced Su-34 bombers, Ka-52 and Mi-28 helicopters.
