​Ukraine’s Air Defense Shoots Down 6 Ballistic Missiles, 71 Drones on Wednesday

On the night of February 12, air defense forces in 11 regions shot down 6 ballistic missiles and 71 drones used by the russian military to attack Ukraine

This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Wednesday morning.

According to Ukraine’s Air Force, on the night of February 12 (from 19:00 on February 11), the russian military launched a strike with Iskander-M ballistic missiles (S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles) on Kyiv and Kryvyi Rih. Six launches were carried out from the Bryansk region, russia, and one from the temporarily occupied Crimea.

The russian military also attacked with 123 Shahed strike UAVs as well as other types of drones from the following directions: Millerovo, Orel, Bryansk, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – the citys in russia.

Aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare equipment as well as mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the air attack.

As of 08:30, it was confirmed that six Iskander-M ballistic missiles (missiles of S-400 SAM system) and 71 Shahed strike UAVs (other types of drones) were shot down in Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. 40 drone simulators were lost in location (without negative consequences).

"As a result of the enemy attack, the Kyiv region, Dnipropetrovsk region (Kryvyi Rih), Sumy region, Poltava region and Chernihiv region were affected," the report says.

According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, one person was killed and four were injured, including a child, in the Obolonsky district of Kyiv as a result of a russian missile strike on the morning of February 12. Rescuers continue to extinguish a fire in non-residential premises in one of the regions of Kyiv region.

As Defense Express reported, earlier Defense forces of Ukraine successfully struck a russian oil depot stationed next to an air defense base.
