On June 26, 2025, Ukrainian resistance forces, in coordination with the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, carried out a successful sabotage operation in temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia region. A powerful explosion destroyed a key railway section heavily relied upon by russian forces for military logistics.
The targeted railway line had been a critical artery for moving supplies, fuel, and equipment to the front lines. As a result of the operation, train traffic on the damaged section was brought to a complete halt, paralyzing russian logistics in the region for over a week.

Despite the disruption, russian occupation forces managed to restore the tracks and resumed movement on July 1, dispatching a military freight train along the repaired line. However, their efforts were quickly undone.
That same day, another explosion struck, this time disabling russian locomotive. The second incident once again blocked the logistical route, leaving one of the key transport corridors of the occupying army inoperable.
This operation highlights the ongoing and effective campaign of resistance in temporarily occupied territories, where partisans and intelligence operatives continue to undermine russian control and movement. These actions significantly delay the delivery of ammunition, weapons, and other supplies crucial to sustaining russia's war effort.
Rail infrastructure remains a vital component of Moscow's logistics in the south, and repeated sabotage strikes are proving costly, not only in terms of physical damage but also in operational delays and security concerns.
The Zaporizhzhia sabotage incidents represent another example of Ukraine's evolving asymmetric tactics: leveraging local resistance networks and targeting critical nodes of the enemy's military infrastructure to gradually erode its battlefield capacity.
As Defense Express previously reported, in a continued effort to degrade russia's military logistics and economic infrastructure, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, in coordination with other branches, successfully struck a critical oil refinery in Saratov region of the russian federation. The attack specifically targeted the Saratovorgsintez oil processing facility.
This refinery is known to be a vital component of russian military supply chain, producing fuel and lubricants for use by combat units engaged in Moscow's war of aggression against Ukraine. Ukrainian officials emphasized that the strike is part of a broader campaign to systematically reduce russia's capacity to sustain its offensive operations.
