In a continued effort to degrade russia’s military logistics and economic infrastructure, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, in coordination with other branches, successfully struck a critical oil refinery in Saratov region of the russian federation. The attack specifically targeted the Saratovorgsintez oil processing facility.
This refinery is known to be a vital component of russian military supply chain, producing fuel and lubricants for use by combat units engaged in Moscow’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Ukrainian officials emphasized that the strike is part of a broader campaign to systematically reduce russia's capacity to sustain its offensive operations.

Confirmed report indicates that key technological installations at the refinery were hit and damaged, resulting in a fire on the premises. While the full extent of the destruction is still being assessed, preliminary data suggests that the attack has significantly disrupted operations at the site.
The Saratovorgsintez plant is located deep within russian territory, highlighting the growing reach and precision of Ukrainian long-range strike capabilities. It also underscores Kyiv’s evolving strategy to target high-value military and dual-use infrastructure far from the frontlines.
This operation marks yet another instance of Ukraine leveraging intelligence-driven strikes to inflict economic and logistical damage on russia's war machine. It is consistent with Ukraine’s broader doctrine of strategic deterrence by hitting fuel depots, logistics centers, and defense manufacturing hubs.
By targeting facilities that contribute directly to russia’s ability to wage war, Ukrainian forces aim not only to slow down immediate offensive actions but also to send a message that no critical asset supporting the invasion is beyond reach. Such strikes are intended to escalate the costs of continued aggression for the Kremlin.
As Defense Express previously reported, Ukrainian combat aviation has successfully targeted and destroyed russian drone repair facility in the south of Ukraine, dealing another blow to the logistics and operational capabilities of russian unmanned aerial systems on the front. The strike was carried out by the Ukrainian Air Force in cooperation with aerial reconnaissance specialists from the Flying Skull unit of the Unmanned Systems Forces.
