In June of 2024, the Defense Forces of Ukraine will receive the first batch of artillery ammunition under the so-called Czech initiative. Now it is know how many shells the first batch may contain, as well as the pace of delivery of critical ammunition for Ukrainian military.
According to European Pravda, these figures were announced by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. In particular, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavskýconfirmed that the first batch will be delivered next month. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, their initiative should ensure the supply of artillery ammunition at the level of tens of thousands of units per month.

"The first significant increase in supplies will be in June, it will be in the dozens of thousands of shells, between 50 and 100 thousand per month," says Tomáš Kopečný, the Czech Governmental Envoy for the Reconstruction of Ukraine. It should be noted that these are 122-mm and 155-mm shells.
For the first time, the so-called Czech initiative to supply artillery ammunition to Ukraine became known in February of this year. President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel announced that with the support of the country, it had become possible to supply Ukraine with 800,000 of 122-mm and 155-mm artillery shells. They will be purchased outside the European Union and NATO. As of today, a batch of 180,000 rounds of ammunition has been contracted. At the same time, Kopečný clarifies that this number could potentially reach 1.5 million rounds of ammunition or even more.
As it was previously noted by Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen, Ukraine may receive half a million pieces of artillery ammunition by the end of the year under the Czech initiative. So, from June to December, the average rate of supply will be about 71,000 rounds of ammunition per month. Thus, by the end of the year, the Czech initiative could provide an average firing pace of more than 2,300 rounds per day.
Earlier Defense Express reported that Luxembourg had contributed to artillery coalition for Ukraine.
