As a result of comprehensive measures, unlawful actions by russian hackers were detected and blocked. These hackers were attempting to breach Ukrainian military networks and gather reconnaissance information.
The prompt response by the SBU prevented russian intelligence services from accessing sensitive information regarding AFU operations, locations, troop movements, their equipment and more.
This defensive cyber operation was conducted in cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“From the first days of the full-scale invasion, we have been repelling cyber attacks from russian intelligence, attempting to breach not only our military management system but also other targets. The operation we have conducted is the cyber defense of our military,” noted Ilya Vitiuk, the head of the SBU Cybersecurity Department.
According to him, the responsibility for these cyber attacks lies with the hacker group Sandworm, which is controlled by russian military intelligence.

As a result of the SBU’s investigation, cyber experts identified that the enemy’s strategy for spreading viruses within the system relied heavily on capturing Ukrainian tablets on the battlefield. They intended to use the access and programs available on these devices to infiltrate the system.
In total, the Security Service identified nearly 10 hostile spy programs aimed at gathering information from the system.
The SBU continues to closely collaborate with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, documenting the actions of hostile intelligence services and holding those responsible accountable.
