The disruption therefore will not affect the military business, Rheinmetall states

Rheinmetall AG, German automotive and arms manufacturer, became a victim of cyber attack on April 14, 2022. According to SPIEGEL, the Cologne Prosecutor's Office has already initiated a corresponding procedure in this case. The representers of the Zentrale Ansprechstelle Cybercrime (Central Contact Point for Cybercrimes) confirms that the investigation has began.

Rheinmetall confirms an “IT incident” in the civil division of the group on Friday evening. It produces mainly for industrial customers and companies from the automotive sector.

The company doesn’t want to comment on this incident. But echo24 reports that the subsidiaries are also said to be affected, including the Kolbenschmidt (engine manufacturer) in Neckarsulm.

“The disruption therefore will not affect the military business of the three divisions: Vehicle Systems, Weapon and Ammunition and Electronic Solutions,” a spokesman told SPIEGEL.
