The following example shows why the combat experience and good-quality training matters in real battle

Strategic Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has published a video of a russian troop firing from a grenade launcher somewhere on Ukrainian frontlines.

However, the shot turned out to be unsuccessful: a fellow soldier standing a few steps behind was injured with exhaust gasses blasting out of the breech.

The lack of basic knowledge and safety measures is not a rare case among russian troops. Here is also another example of a russian soldier struggling to deal with a grenade launcher, firing at his own feet.

The problem can be even deeper than what is displayed. From an interview with military expert Mykola Salamakha we knew that the lack of proper training is the reason why russian tank T-72B3 is not used to its fullest, the tank is simply designed as too complicated.

And in one of the latest reports, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence says russia is continuing its covert mobilization, now the turn has come to Moscow and Leningrad regions.

"The main focus is on the training of T-72B3 tank crews," the intelligence reads. After the contract is signed, the training lasts from 10 days to a month with options of further training in motorized infantry encampments, which is a rather short term, while Ukrainian servicemen get comprehensive training domestically and even get involved in the British several-week course abroad with instructors from multiple countries, not to mention the specialized education on the use of specific Western armament e.g. "Martlet" missiles.

In fact, the russian federation has been struggling to find more personnel to deploy in Ukraine since the very start of the all-out military campaign in February. Leaving the general mobilization as the "last resort" option, russian command recruits new cannon fodder by the means of the so-called "covert mobilization", recruiting of prisoners, foreign mercenaries and forcibly – Ukrainians on the occupied territories.
