South Korea's K239 Chunmoo rocket artillery system has received a new customer. It is Croatia, which recently announced the conclusion of a deal with Hanwha Aerospace.
The country's government announced that it has purchased 18 K239 Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers, transport-loading and command vehicles, as well as an undisclosed number of ammunition (rockets/missiles) of various types. Deliveries should be completed in 2029.

Together with related services, the contract value is 411.8 million euros. That is 22.87 million euros for one K239 Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher, along with a complete set of support vehicles and ammunition within the framework of a comprehensive contract.

Interestingly, the Croatian government notes that thanks to the K239 Chunmoo, the country's armed forces will receive "new strategic capabilities for quick and precise actions against important targets at a distance of 30 to several hundred kilometers."
It should be noted that for the K239 Chunmoo, the only missile that can hit targets at a distance of several hundred kilometers is the CTM-290 ballistic missile, also known as the KTSSM. It has a range of up to 290 km.
The main ammunition for the K239 Chunmoo is the CGR-080 rocket, which has a diameter of 239 mm and provides a range of 80 km. The CTM-MR missile with a range of 160 km occupies an intermediate position.

The government statement also states that the K239 Chunmoo will complement the American HIMARS MLRSs. The purchase of eight HIMARS units in 2024 was agreed for $ 290 million, but Zagreb faced the reluctance of the United States to sell ballistic missiles, which led to the diversification of supplies.
Long-range missile capabilities are critical for Croatia to ensure the balance of power with Serbia. Belgrade officially showed off the PULS MLRS purchased from Israel in 2025. During the Belgrade parade last September, the system was equipped with transport-launch containers for Extra missiles with a range of up to 150 kilometers, as well as Predator Hawk tactical ballistic missile designed to engage targets at a distance of 300 kilometers.

Croatia became the seventh customer for the K239 Chunmoo and the fourth among NATO members. In addition to South Korea, the system is currently operated by Poland, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and customers include Norway, Estonia and Croatia.
Defense Express reported earlier, that Paris called buying HIMARS "risky," considered local production of Korean K239 Chunmoo or Indian Pinaka.
