The Wagner Group’s recruitment efforts in Ukraine suggest potential shortfalls in russia’s military manpower

Mercenaries affiliated with the Wagner Group are actively recruiting Ukrainian citizens within temporarily occupied territories. The target demographic comprises men aged between 22 and 50 years old, enticing them with the promise of a substantial salary of 240 thousand rubles ($2700) upon signing a six-month contract. However, these recruits, apart from engaging in combat operations, will also be tasked with resource extraction in Africa, National Resistance Center of Ukraine reports.

It’s worth noting that the Wagner Group mercenaries have been operating in Africa since 2017, justifying their presence under the guise of countering American influence on the continent. Nevertheless, their motives remain stagnant and lack innovation.

Russia’s involvement in numerous ongoing conflicts globally and its blatant disregard for international humanitarian laws, particularly regarding the prohibition of recruiting local populations into military entities, is well-documented.
