Danish company Søens Tech unveiled its new unmanned underwater vehicle, the Shadowfin, for the first time at the DALO Industry Days 2026 international defense exhibition. It was developed specifically to meet Ukraine's needs.
The following specifications have been announced for the Shadowfin: it is seven meters long, 50 centimeters in diameter, and weighs 1.5 tons, including a 300-kilogram warhead. The Shadowfin has a mast at the top that is designed to remain above the water.

This mast houses a GPS antenna and cameras, as well as other sensors can also be mounted on it. In addition, the company states that a snorkel for the diesel engine can be routed through the mast, which would significantly increase the vehicle's operating range.
However, the main feature of the Shadowfin is its extremely low price. The company puts the price at around €50,000. By comparison, last year a Shahed drone cost about $70,000, depending on the model. Ukrainian FP-1 drones, meanwhile, cost around $55,000, while USVs and UUVs typically cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
This low cost was achieved by using affordable materials in the Shadowfin's design. The hull of this UUV is made from a standard 500-mm fiberglass tube.
The company states that the Shadowfin's mission is to strike enemy ships as well as coastal infrastructure, which includes ports, bridges, terminals, and other facilities.
Although a 300-kilogram warhead is not enough to destroy a bridge or a pier, but their low cost makes it possible to launch several at once. Given how difficult they are to detect and neutralize, a significant percentage of Shadowfins could reach their targets.
These UUVs are currently undergoing testing in Danish waters. However, as soon as testing is complete, the company plans to deliver the first Shadowfin to Ukraine, where it will undergo field trials.
