Romania currently has weapons orders worth a total of €7.5 billion, which will be funded through the SAFE program. This list includes NSM coastal defense systems, IRIS-T air defense systems, as well as an unnamed type of drone manufactured as part of a joint production program with Ukraine.
Defense Romania reported this, citing remarks by Romanian Minister of Defense Radu Miruță.

According to the report, Romania has already placed orders for 12 H225M helicopters worth €852 million and 12 GM200 radars worth €258 million through the EU’s SAFE defense funding program.
It is expected that these helicopters will be delivered to Romania's Special Operations Forces. However, the Romanian Army plans to acquire an additional 32 helicopters of this type for its own ground forces. If this additional order is finalized, production of the H225M will be localized at the facilities of the Romanian company IAR Brasov.

From Defense Express we would like to note that Romania currently has no UAVs in service, making the joint drone production project with Ukraine strategically important for the country, although it is not yet known how many UAVs Romania is prepared to purchase from Ukraine, what types they will be, or at what cost.
To round out the picture, it is worth noting that in September 2025, Romania announced plans to jointly build a UAV production plant with Ukraine. In addition, in April 2026, it was reported that Romania was no longer willing to accept further delays in the delivery of Watchkeeper X UAVs and was considering Ukrainian drones as a possible replacement.
