Large-Scale SSU Strike in Crimea Damages Three russian Warships, MiG-31, Key Air Defense Facilities

On the night of April 26, Ukraine's Security Service (SSU) carried out a large-scale drone operation in temporarily occupied Crimea, striking three russian military ships, a MiG-31 fighter jet, and several key air defense and intelligence facilities

The operation targeted the russian Black Sea Fleet's naval base in Sevastopol as well as the Belbek military airfield, where fighters from the SSU's Alpha special operations unit reportedly conducted precision strikes using drones.

According to the SSU, the following targets were hit:

  • russian Navy Yamal large landing ship
  • russian Navy Filchenkov large landing ship
  • Ivan Khurs Reconnaissance ship
  • russian Black Sea Fleet Lukomka training center
  • Headquarters of the radio-technical intelligence unit of the air defense forces
  • MR-10M1 Mys-M1 radar station
  • MiG-31 aircraft at Belbek airfield
  • Technical maintenance section of Belbek airfield

The strike on the naval base in Sevastopol targeted critical elements of russia's Black Sea Fleet infrastructure, while the attack on Belbek airfield focused on aviation and support facilities.

The MR-10M1 Mys-M1 radar station is a coastal surveillance radar used for target detection and tracking, making it an important part of russia's defensive network in Crimea.

Acting Head of the SSU Yevhenii Khmara said that each such operation is part of a broader strategy aimed at systematically degrading russia's military capabilities in occupied Crimea.

"Every such operation follows a clear logic: we are methodically destroying key elements of the enemy’s military infrastructure, including the fleet, aviation, intelligence, and air defense systems," Khmara stated.

"This is not only about the direct loss of equipment, but also about destroying the enemy's ability to control the battlespace, protect its forces, and plan new attacks. This work will continue until russia stops its aggression against our state."

Crimea remains one of the most strategically important regions for russian military operations against Ukraine, serving as a major hub for naval, aviation, and missile activities. Repeated Ukrainian strikes on military targets across the peninsula continue to challenge Moscow’s ability to maintain secure rear positions there.

It is worth recalling that on April 18, fighters of the SSU's Alpha Special Operations Center also carried out an operation in the temporarily occupied Crimea, during which three russian military ships were struck at once.
