The Achilles 429th Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment has become the first unit of its kind to adopt motorized transport, embracing tactics borrowed from assault units to boost mobility and crew safety. The Regiment announced this "move to a new speed" on its official page, signaling a tactical shift in how unmanned systems operators reach and operate from the front.

"We adopted the effective practices of assault troops and adapted them to our tasks. Motorbikes offer high maneuverability, the ability to move between plantings, and to travel covertly and quickly," the regiment wrote in its statement.

The comparison highlights how light, fast vehicles can complement drone operations by enabling rapid insertion and extraction of crews.

According to the Regiment, the chosen transport enables operational reconnaissance and access to the most difficult positions. By pairing unmanned systems with mobile teams, the Achilles Regiment aims to reduce the time between intelligence collection and action, while expanding the range of environments its crews can operate in.

The primary driver behind the change is the safety of personnel.

"Pilots are one of the priority targets for the enemy. Therefore we are looking for solutions to preserve the lives and health of our people," the unit emphasized.

Field trials have already been completed for the new vehicles, the Regiment reports. Testing in real conditions allowed crews to evaluate performance under operational stresses and to adjust procedures for movement, concealment, and rapid deployment.

As Defense Express previously reported, pilots of the Zalizna 3rd Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade have released rare footage showing the destruction of russian bomber with the help of an FPV drone. The video, published on the Brigade's official channel on September 24, documents a unique engagement in which Ukrainian operators successfully outmaneuvered and neutralized an enemy bomber.
