Meeting his Estonian colleague, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, noted that the arrival of dear friend Martin Herem in Ukraine at this difficult time for our country is evidence of systemic support and solidarity in the war against the russian federation. "I appreciate the involvement and assistance of Estonia, the effective support of the military, the high level of our military cooperation, as well as the hospitality with which the Estonians accepted refugees from Ukraine," Valerii Zaluzhny emphasized.

During the visit, the delegation of the Defense Forces of the Republic of Estonia was familiarized with the security situation in Ukraine, the composition and number of groups of the russian federation both in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and in the territory of the russian federation along the state border of Ukraine and the territory of neighboring states, the nature of the enemy's actions and directions of concentration, its losses in personnel and equipment, revealed facts of the enemy's violation of the rules of warfare and war crimes against humanity.


In addition, the assessment of the likely nature of the enemy's actions in the future, the security situation on the Ukrainian-belarusian border, the development trends of the military-strategic situation in Eastern Europe and the Black Sea-Azov region were discussed.
The delegation of the Defense Forces of the Republic of Estonia visited the places where war crimes were committed by the russian occupiers, including the hero cities of Hostomel, Borodyanka, and the area of fierce fighting near the village of Moschun.


Also, together with the officers of the Operational Command "North", the military Estonian partner visited the places where war crimes were committed by the russian federation in Chernihiv Oblast. In particular, they saw the destroyed stadium, library, Bobrovytsia microdistrict, etc. In addition, the foreign colleagues got acquainted with the security situation in the region and with the organization of countering the armed aggression of the russian federation by units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Lieutenant General Martin Herem noted that the example of Ukraine's struggle in the war with russia is an invaluable experience for NATO countries. Estonia, on the other hand, is one of the states that has always supported Ukraine and its army, in particular, helped with the professional training of personnel.



Estonia actively supports Ukraine in its resistance to Russian aggression. As Defense Express reported, Estonia delivered the first batch of U.S.-made Javelin anti-tank weapons systems to Ukraine a week before the start of russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. Estonia could also supply Ukraine with Italian FH70 155mm howitzers.
