Sudan, which has been a regular scene of civil wars, rebellions and coups d'état since gaining independence in 1956, which split with the secession of South Sudan in 2011, is "shaking" again. On the morning of April 15, in the capital of Sudan, Khartoum, and other cities, battles began between the army and the forces of operational support, which is a parallel force structure.
The cause of the fighting was the question of subordination of the Rapid Support Forces to the general military leadership of the armed forces. The fact is that the army is subordinate to the military government formed in 2021, and the Operational Support Forces to the vice president respectively.

Within the framework of the plan until 2026, the latter were supposed to join the armed forces, but the government headed by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Vice-President General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo could not agree on the terms and order of the transition of forces. In particular, the government indicated a two-year term and did not agree to a 10-year term.
According to media reports, the Rapid Support Forces were the first to go on the attack, trying to assault the General Staff, places of permanent deployment of the army, the airport in Khartoum, and other objects. Defense Express notes that the jet of Ukrainian Sky Up company was at the international airport and was damaged, it is known that the crew includes citizens of Ukraine.
It is known that the air base near the country's capital was stormed, as well as the Merowe air base, where Egyptian MiG-29’s and pilots were located.
Meanwhile, in Khartoum, where battles on the streets were already reported, the MiG-29 of unknown side of the conflict is already actively applied.
Prior to that, the activity of the Mi-24 attack helicopters was observed in the sky, and armored vehicles entered the capital.
In particular, some videos show the T-55 tanks moving together with the traditional vehicles for this region: pickups with large-caliber machine guns.
At the same time, the military government is resisting and reported about repelling attacks on the headquarters, armies and a number of other objects. In particular, they claim that they were able to destroy the enemy in some battles in the provinces. In the latest videos at the time of publication, active shooting and explosions can be heard on video from Khartoum.
