Due to the long-range strikes of Ukraine, the 23rd arsenal and the 719th base of artillery ammunition, where North Korean shells were stored, were destroyed

On the night of September 21, the Defense Forces of Ukraine conducted two long-range strikes against russian depots, which ended in detonation and their destruction. The targets of the strikes were the 23rd Arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) of the Ministry of Defense of the russian federation near the village of Oktyabrsky in the Tver region and the 719th base of artillery ammunition near Tikhoretsk in the Krasnodar Krai.

It should be noted that the 23rd arsenal of the GRAU of the Ministry of Defense of the russian federation is located only 16 km south of the already destroyed 107th arsenal near the city of Toropets, where the earthquake occurred as a result of powerful explosions.

So, the range from the border with Ukraine to this arsenal was about 450 km. As Defense Express, we wrote that the 23rd arsenal is one of the seven known GRAU arsenals in the conditional 750-km zone from Ukraine.

It should be noted that, unlike the 107th arsenal, this one did not undergo modernization and expansion. The nomenclature of ammunition, which was stored there on the area of 2.6 km², is still unknown. In particular, NASA's fire monitoring service shows a large-scale fire that engulfed it.

At the same time, it was not possible to find a reliable video of this detonation. Possibly this is due to the fact that the russian authorities limited access to the Internet in Toropets after the explosion, and also to the fact that the 719th artillery ammunition base near Tikhoretsk in the Krasnodar Krai was destroyed On the night of September 21.

In comparison with the 23rd arsenal, it is a small ammunition storage base with a total area of 1 km². Moreover, it stored not only ammunition, but also artillery systems. It is located in about 300 km from the front line.

At the same time, taking into account its location, this base obviously plays a huge role for the southern and eastern grouping of russian occupiers. Satellite images show an increase in ammunition shelters in the same area between 2022 and 2024.

So, the concentration of ammunition at this facility could be much higher and exceed any norms. Moreover, part of the artillery ammunition from the DPRK was brought to this base. Their route was investigated by Frontelligence Insight's OSINT group in January 2024. It was the 719th base in the Tikhoretska district, together with a depot near the village of Yegorlykskyay in the Rostov region and Mozdok in North Ossetia, that were the place of their storage.

Earlier Defense Express reported that Ukrainian partisans had discovered large field artillery depot in Donetsk Oblast.
