EDGE Group Expands Global Footprint With 20+ Defense Deals, Eyes Leadership in Arms Market

Lockheed Martin, Hanwha Aerospace, Raytheon, and MBDA represent only a fraction of the extensive list of global defense companies with which EDGE Group is already cooperating or plans to cooperate

The UAE-based technology and defense conglomerate has recently accelerated the expansion of its international partnerships, focusing on major arms manufacturers across multiple regions.

Since the beginning of this year alone, several agreements have been signed. Among them is a deal with Allison Transmission, a global leader in transmission systems, covering authorized dealership arrangements. Another agreement was concluded with Indra Group to establish a new company in Spain focused on the production and lifecycle support of precision-guided weapons, including loitering munitions.

In December, EDGE announced that its subsidiary HORIZON became the first authorized service center in the region for maintenance of Rolls-Royce M250 and Rolls-Royce RR300 engines.

Dubai Airshow 2025 proved particularly productive for EDGE. The company signed 21 agreements with leading global defense firms, including Aselsan, Leonardo, L3Harris, and Korea Aerospace Industries.

For example, a memorandum of understanding was signed with Hanwha to explore potential cooperation in air defense systems, long-range precision weapons, unmanned aerial vehicles, and the application of artificial intelligence in defense.

With Leonardo, preliminary agreements were reached to establish a joint venture focused on sensors, system integration, and related platforms. The launch is scheduled for this year. EDGE will hold a 51 percent stake, while Leonardo will retain 49 percent.

Meanwhile, EPI, another EDGE subsidiary, became the first company in the region to receive certification approval from Raytheon, a division of RTX, for compliance with MIL-DTL-5541 Type II Class 1 and Class 3 standards. These standards are considered a major alternative in advanced surface treatment processes.

EDGE is also seeking cooperation with Safran, which supplies Ukraine with air-launched guided munitions, to jointly develop next-generation smart weapons.

Last year, MBDA announced plans to open its first subsidiary outside Europe, targeting the UAE. EDGE could potentially become its local partner.

Some of these agreements are memoranda of understanding and may not translate into concrete programs. However, EDGE has clearly demonstrated sustained ambition in recent years, expanding both the scale and depth of its presence in the global defense market.
