The words of Ukrainian President coincide with Victory in Europe Day when European countries celebrate the surrender of German forces marking the victory in WWII

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has released a black and white video in front of destroyed residential buildings addressing the horrors being seen in Ukraine likening them to Nazi "atrocities".

Mr Zelenskyy believes the world is now "experiencing a terrible deja vu".

On the eve of Russia's 'Victory Day' celebrations on May 9, he states that "everyone hears the language of evil" and "no evil will avoid responsibility" and Ukraine "will overcome everything".

He drew direct comparisons between the evil of the Nazi regime and Russia's attack on Ukraine, frequently drawing comparisons between Nazi leader Adolf Hitler and the Russian President Vladimir Putin in the video.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy: This year, we say "Never again" differently. We hear "Never Again" differently. It sounds painful, cruel. Without an exclamation, but with a question mark. You say: never again? Tell Ukraine about it.

Zelenskyy said: "Every year on May 8, along with the entire civilised world, we honour those who defended the planet from Nazism in World War Two.

"But we have not made it even a century. Our 'never again' lasted only 77 years. Evil has been reborn."

President of Ukraine also appealed to European nations, including the UK by, likening Nazi bombings of their cities to Russian strikes on urban areas in Ukraine.

"The British have not forgotten how the Nazis wiped out Coventry. How its historic centre, factories and St. Michael's Cathedral were destroyed.

"They saw missiles hit Kharkiv and saw its historic centre, factories and the Assumption Cathedral destroyed."

He added: "Our ancestors proved that no evil can avoid responsibility. It will not be able to hide in the bunker. There will be no stone left of it.

"So we will overcome everything, and we know this for sure because our military and all our people are the descendants of those who overcame Nazism.

"They will win again and there will be peace again."
