The occupiers have shown by their own example why using anti-ship missiles against ground targets is a bad idea

On Saturday, April 30, the aggressor fired a missile at Odessa International Airport. Fortunately, no one was killed in the incident, but the airport's runway was completely destroyed and unfit for further use.

The main feature of this event was noted in his address by the Head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration Maxim Marchenko - to strike at the Odessa airport, the Russians used Bastion-P coastal defense missile system, located in the occupied Crimea.

The Bastion-P missile system is equipped with the P-800 Onyx supersonic anti-ship missile. The racists themselves called the missile "aircraft carrier killer" dyu to the fact that this missile was developed during the Soviet era precisely for strikes on aircraft carrier strike groups of the "probable enemy".

The Saturday 's episode is only the second known case of the use of the Bastion complex by racists against Ukraine during the entire war. The first incident occurred on March 19, the Russians fired four missiles that did not seem to hit the target.

What was the "technological" logic of striking a ground target with an anti-ship missile is currently unclear. The warhead of the P-800 Onyx anti-ship cruise missile is less (300 kg) than, for example, the Iskander ballistic missile (about 500 kg). It is also unknown how the aiming system of the missile works when hitting ground targets. Significantly, the invaders tried to hit a P-800 missile on targets near the shoreline.

However, the Russians have shown that launching strikes by anti-ship missiles against ground targets without refining the "product" - a bad idea, ammunition is wasted, and there is no special effect.

Defense Express reported that Ukraine desperately needed weapons from allies to fight enemy submarines. Ruzzists have moved to a new tactic of missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine from the Black Sea. They have already started firing Caliber missiles from submarines to avoid being hit by Ukraine’s Neptune anti-ship cruise missile (ASCM) system.
