Due to strong Ukrainian resistance, russian armed forces need to deploy more equipment and troops trying to gain a foothold on captured territories and continue offensive

General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continues to inform on the current situation on the battlefields. In a regular operational report, the situation as of 06:00 AM, May 1, is described. Here are the key points:

Russian armed forces command is looking for ways of strengthening the strike potential of its troops. Weapons and military equipment are removed from storage in the Western, Central and Eastern Military Districts and the Northern Fleet and transferred to the border areas with Ukraine by rail.

The enemy is still threatening with missile strikes on Ukraine from the territory of the republic of belarus. The possibility of provocations on the Ukraine-belarus border remains as well. Certain units of the belarussian armed forces continue to passively cover the border in Brest and Gomel regions.

Russian enemy group continues to carry out airstrikes and artillery fire on Kharkiv. The occupiers are conducting offensive operations in the directions of Barvinkove and Slovyansk from Izium. The enemy's strike group is growing. Up to 300 weapons and military equipment and about a thousand mobilized troops arrived from the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Two anti-aircraft missile divisions armed with Buk-M2 (SA-17 "Grizzly") and Tor-M (SA-15 "Gauntlet") were deployed to cover the advancing russian air forces in four designated areas.

Groups of russian enemy troops are conducting active operations along the entire southeastern section of the line of contact with artillery and airstrikes.

Russian invaders are carrying out assault operations and trying to gain a foothold on the reached borders in the Popasna direction, blocking Ukrainian forces and means in certain areas from maneuver.

The occupiers are fighting to reach the administrative borders of the Kherson region and create favorable conditions for the attack on the cities of Mykolayiv and Kryvyi Rih.

Enemy losses statistics:

  • The previous day, the air defense units hit nine air targets: two Su-25 aircraft and seven UAVs.
  • In the Donetsk and Luhansk regions only, nine enemy attacks have been repulsed in the past 24 hours, eight tanks, one artillery system, 24 units of armored combat vehicles, one special vehicle and five vehicles (including two tankers) have been destroyed.
