The promise to hand over the non-existent IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile systems, which will take months to build, is a new reality from the German government

Another "transfer of arms from Germany" showed a fundamental discrepancy between words and real actions. After stories with Marder infantry fighting vehicles, Leopard 1A5 tanks, Gepard anti-aircraft tanks and PzH 2000 self propelled howitzers, the case came to IRIS-T SAM, which was announced by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

A few hours after his statement to lawmakers in the Bundestag, the German government clarified that these are new complexes that still need to be built. This was stated by German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbok, adding that it will take "months", reports Die Welt.

The German newspaper also clarified that according to the information available in the government corridors, it is an IRIS-T SLM air defense system, which has a range of up to 40 km and a height of 20 km. This complex is currently being built for Egypt.

As Defense Express estimates, it is possible to talk about the "months" of delivery only about the first complex, which is expected to be delivered. It may take "years" to supply the minimum required quantity.
