Preliminary reports indicate that at least two Tu-22M3 bombers may have been damaged by a kamikaze drone explosion

Unmanned aerial vehicles of unknown ownership attacked the russian Soltsy military airfield in the Novgorod region. A photo showing an explosion and fire at the base airfield of russian bombers appeared on the Internet. Later, the russian Ministry of Defense was also forced to confess about the attack on the airfield.

According to the official notification of the Ministry of Defense of the russian federation, the attack took place on Saturday, August 19, at around 10 am. As it is claimed, the drone "was detected by the team of the airfield's external observation post and was struck by small arms."

As a result of an attack by an unknown UAV, a fire broke out in the aircraft parking lot, which, apparently, was promptly extinguished. Also, the Ministry of Defense of the russian federation says that one plane was damaged, but there are apparently no casualties.

It is worth paying attention to the following detail - for some reason, the drone was shot down with small arms, although it is an active air base. Another interesting point is that the occupiers generally acknowledged the strike on the airfield and, even, the damage to the plane, this may well hint that in reality the consequences of this strike could be much worse for the occupiers.

For example, a number of monitoring channels reported that at least two russian Tu-22M3 bombers could have been damaged - in particular, monitoring said that a drone could have damaged an oil storage facility, as a result of which russian aircraft were also damaged, which could also be damaged by UAV debris).

It may also be a sign that a few hours after the drone strike on this airfield, the occupiers decided to redeploy at least five of their Tu-22M3 bombers from the Soltsy air base to the Olenya airfield.

We will remind that the russian Soltsy air base is used by the russians as a base for about a dozen Tu-22M3 bombers, which carry out terrorist missile attacks on the territory of Ukraine. This object is located at a distance of more than 650 km from the border with Ukraine.
