For the assault of Bakhmut and Soledar, the enemy concentrated 12 divisions of barrel and rocket artillery, including 240-mm 2S4 Tyulpan self-propelled mortars

Bakhmut and Soledar remains the main areas where russian troops conduct the most active offensive actions, focusing on the "artillery-infantry" offensive. As Kostyantyn Mashovets, one of the members of the Information Resistance community, writes, now the enemy has concentrated 12 divisions of barrel and rocket artillery on this part of the front.

At the same time, we are talking about artillery systems from the composition of separate artillery brigades, that is, large-caliber artillery. In particular, 152-mm modernized 2S19M2 Msta-S and 2S5 Hyacinth-S self-propelled guns, 220-mm BM-27 Uragan MLRS and 240-mm 2S4 Tyulpan self-propelled heavy mortars.

The concentration of artillery fire became the main element of ensuring the offensive for the russian troops

In addition to this, the enemy overthrew separate fire batteries armed with 82-mm and 120-mm mortars. Taking into account the arrival of units of the 31st Separate Airborne Assault Brigade and the 76th Airborne Assault Division at this site, their standard 120-mm Nona-S guns were also added to them.

This amount of artillery, together with constant infantry attacks, is a continuation of the tactics that the russian army implemented during the capture of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk. But there is an extremely important condition that distinguishes these two offensive operations of the enemy. If in June near Severodonetsk and Lysychansk the enemy could afford to spend an actually unlimited amount of ammunition, now, as the columnist writes, the Russian army has introduced rather strict standards for the daily consumption of shells - 22-24 shots per day.

These norms apply to all russian artillery units, therefore, in order to achieve the necessary density of fire, the russian command transfers the available stocks of ammunition to separate areas.

But the Armed Forces of Ukraine have high-precision long-range weapons (HIMARS, MLRS, MARS, LRU) and a well-developed system for effectively destroying warehouses and transfer points of enemy ammunition. As Kostyantyn Mashovets writes: "the situation with the enemy's shells and artillery ammunition may very well become dramatic in the nearest future"...
