North Korean industry is actively increasing the production of military products, including artillery ammunition, which is used not only for its own needs, but also supplied to russians

North Korea has doubled the production of artillery ammunition compared to the previous record. This amount is four times higher than the average volume of shells produced in the country.

This was reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) in a material about the visit of Kim Jong-un to one of the enterprises in Pyongyang. The material also discusses the scale and pace of modernization of the plant.

Given that such news is generated by a Korean propaganda information resource, it is highly likely that such statements may not correspond to reality – so such reports should be treated with a certain amount of skepticism.

On the other hand, such information cannot be completely ignored, as the DPRK actively supplies russia with a large range of ammunition, including artillery shells. Therefore, the more ammunition the Koreans produce, the more they can be supplied to the Russians for use in the war against Ukraine.

In particular, it is known that from September 2023 to April 2025, North Korea transferred from 1 to 6 million shells and missiles to russians. It is known that a large part of this ammunition was supplied from the reserves of the Korean People's Army and it was to compensate for the loss of reserves that North Korea increased the pace of ammunition production.

It is known that, according to analytical estimates, there may be up to 300 defense factories in the DPRK, employing 500 thousand people – so a twofold increase in production looks quite realistic.

We also remind that the DPRK supplies the russians with artillery systems, such as the M-1989 self-propelled Howitzers, as well as MLRS of its own production, ballistic missiles as well as ATGMs
