The second day, from the morning of Tuesday, October 10, the enemy continues to try to break through the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Avdiyivka area. This settlement has remained a powerful stronghold since the expulsion of units under the banner of the so-called "DPR" in July 2014.
In the time that has passed, as early as the spring of 2022, the enemy was able to advance north of the city, capturing Novoselivka Druga in August last year. At the same time, the enemy, thanks to methodical attacks that took place for at least half a year, managed to advance in the south in the area of Opytne, Vodyane and Pisky, which were captured by the enemy in March 2023. In April, the enemy was able to capture Krasnohorivka, which increased the front on the northern flank. Thus, Avdiivka is now located in an arc with a width of about 9 km and a depth of 13 km.

After large-scale artillery and air strikes, the enemy made an attempt to attack the Defense Forces of Ukraine, which was repelled. As evidenced by the videos circulating on the network, the enemy tried to attack the city with powerful armored groups. Attacks from the northern and southern flanks were reported.
Vitaliy Barabash, the head of the Avdiiv city military administration, called this the most massive attack on the city since February 24, 2022. He also added that the russian army is trying to attack simultaneously in 10-12 directions with the support and cover of aviation.
As the spokesman of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalev, said, in general, the enemy concentrated the forces of three brigades to conduct an offensive with the aim of encircling the city. But, as Oleksandr Shtupun, the spokesman of the United Press Center of the Defense Forces of the Tavria Region, emphasized yesterday, these enemy attacks were not successful.
Despite this, the enemy has not stopped trying to carry out attacks for the second day and, as the spokesman said on Wednesday, the enemy threw into battle about three battalions with a significant number of tanks and other armored vehicles. But this did not help the russians to achieve the desired result.
"I want to immediately reassure everyone - at the moment, all enemy attacks have been repelled. Our soldiers did not allow the loss of lines and positions," Shtupun emphasized today.
At the same time, it is already visible in the new videos that the enemy is trying to advance along the same routes, disembarking armored infantry at the same point where it receives new losses.
The use of cluster munitions provided by partners helps Ukrainian soldiers to destroy the enemy's manpower and equipment. Ukrainian gunners are highly effective on the battlefield thanks to their high level of professionalism combined with the work of Ukrainian aerial scouts, who provide the opportunity to have an online picture of the battlefield from drones.
Ukrainian ATGM teams are also actively working. This allows to destruct enemy armored vehicles on the approach to the positions of the Ukrainian troops, after which the russian landing forces try to return to their positions on foot.
"We were waiting for them. The guys dug in well, mined the approaches well. Our anti-tank means are competently deployed. The combat work is going on, the artillery is working quite accurately and powerfully. The situation is under control at the moment. The fighting is going on", - emphasized the spokesman of the United Press Center of the Defense Forces of the Tavria direction Oleksandr Stupun.
